Girls soccer

Trojans outdo No. 4 Spartans

Class 3A No. 7 Center Grove scored its biggest victory of the season thus far with a 5-3 triumph at fourth-ranked Homestead on Saturday. Ali Wiesmann netted a pair of goals for the Trojans (6-0-1), while Emily Karr, Taylor Wert and Molly Tapak each found the net once and netminder Sophia Gorall made five saves.

Royals blank Covenant

Summer Fishel scored twice and Sophia Lewis added a goal as Roncalli defeated Covenant Christian on Saturday, 3-0, in a match shortened by lightning. Ansley Bishop and Roselith Moreno kept a clean sheet for the Royals (5-3-1).

Volleyball

Franklin, Center Grove compete in tourney

Center Grove and Franklin both competed in a tournament at Providence on Saturday, with the Grizzly Cubs earning a 25-18, 25-14 victory in their head-to-head meeting. Franklin (6-4) also beat Columbus East but lost to the host Pioneers and Roncalli, while the Trojans (6-8) earned a two-set win over Bloomington South but were defeated by Providence and Brownstown Central.

Trojans take two

Ninth-ranked Center Grove defeated Bloomington North, 4-1, and posted a 5-0 win over Jeffersonville on Saturday. Loc Pham and Quinn Smith each collected a pair of singles victories for the Trojans, while Carson Bush and Daksh Patel were each a part of two doubles wins, including one together.

Roncalli boys sixth at invitational

Sam Vaught finished in the top 10 individually to help the Roncalli boys team place sixth among 18 teams at the Marion Invitational on Saturday.
