Kerry Dorsey

GREENWOOD

Kerry Dean Dorsey, 58, passed away on October 6th concluding a long battle with cancer. Born in Dallas, Texas on February 20th, 1964 to Yvonne and Fred Dorsey, Kerry spent the majority of his childhood in Carmel, Indiana, and raised his own family in Greenwood, Indiana. A lifelong music lover and musician, Kerry played saxophone in the school marching bands and guitar in a number of bands throughout his adult years.

Kerry began his career in business with his father at Dorsey &Associates, working in the electronics manufacturing industry. Later, following his father’s retirement, Kerry transitioned the business into working with companies to service their technology hardware and networking needs. It was through these services, as well as through his community service, that he developed relationships in the banking industry, resulting in a refocusing on banking systems and bank security. In 2017, Kerry reached an agreement with the Hendricks County Bank and Trust Company to join them full time as a Vice President of Operations, working specifically on the bank’s technology and security systems.

Among Kerry’s biggest fans, both on and off the stage, were his cats, Cucuy, Ed, Dybbuk, and Sammi, each of whom served an important role as part of his foundational support group throughout his cancer battle. In addition to his feline companions, Kerry is survived by his wife, Sarah, sons Drew and Taylor, older brother Tim Dorsey, as well as younger siblings Chris Dorsey and Dinah Rankin.

Kerry received compassionate care during these challenging times, and the family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Nabil Adra and Dr. James Gahimer, as well as to all of the staff in the University Hospital Progressive Care Unit whose services and support were absolutely wonderful through his final days.

A celebration of Kerry’s life will take place in the Homestead Room in the Sycamore Event Center at Mallow Run on Friday, October 14th from 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Avon Misty Eyes Animal Center or Springs Valley Pet Services.
