The Johnson County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased woman as Sarah B. Dowdle, 36, of Milltown.

5:00 P.M. UPDATE

A woman is dead, and a man is injured after a car accident on Interstate 65 just north of Greenwood.

The accident occurred in the I-65 northbound lane at mile marker 100.5 at 11:30 a.m. Thursday and involved one vehicle, according to an Indiana State Police news release.

When first responders arrived, a pick-up truck was on its side and they found a woman pinned under the truck, unresponsive. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. A male passenger was alert and conscious and he was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Greenwood Police Department and the Greenwood Fire Department responded to the accident, and ISP is leading the investigation.

A preliminary investigation from ISP determined the driver of the pick-up truck ran off the roadway to the right into the grass ditch, then back onto the roadway. The truck slid sideways and rolled over several times. There was no indication of what caused the driver to leave the roadway, the release said.

The identity of the victim is being withheld to allow for notification to family members. The investigation with ISP is still ongoing, the release said.

The northbound ramp to County Line Road, along with the right lane of northbound I-65 was closed for around four hours while the crash was investigated and the wreckage was removed. All lanes have since reopened.
