GIRLS BASKETBALL

Trojans use balance to blitz Orioles

Center Grove scored a 60-24 victory over visiting Avon on Saturday, led by junior wing Audrey Annee pouring in 15 points and guard Aubrie Booker’s 12. The Trojans (9-4) balanced scoring attack continued with senior Savanna Bischoff adding 11 points.

Braves remain undefeated with win

Junior guard Lauren Foster had 20 points, while guard Ayla Lollar and post Faith Wiseman added 14 and 13, respectively, as Indian Creek downed North Putnam, 61-23. Lollar also chipped in six assists to Foster’s five as the Braves, ranked No. 3 in Class 3A, improved to 13-0.

Whiteland defeats Anderson

Freshman Carly VonDielingen had 17 points for Whiteland in its 74-62 win against visiting Anderson. Also for the Warriors (7-7), winners of four of their last five games, junior Gwen Higdon and senior center Brooklyn Taylor each had 14 points with sophomore guard Sukhman Bains adding 11.

GCA picks up decisive road win

Junior guard Max Booher tallied 22 points and senior wing Blake Shewmaker 16 to lead Greenwood Christian to a 63-26 victory over host Shenandoah.

Royals lose at home to Beech Grove

Roncalli picked up a 13-point effort from Nolan Tunny, but it wasn’t enough as the Royals lost to visiting Beech Grove, 73-35, to fall to 3-2. Drew Kegerreis had nine points for the Royals, while Luke Skartvedt led the team in rebounding.

Roncalli has impressive outing at Marion County meet

The Royals crowned three champions in freshman Blake Getz, seniors Luke Hansen and Bryce Lowery. It was the second such title for Hansen and fourth consecutive for Lowery. As a team, Roncalli finished with 177.5 points with Alex Plahitko taking fourth and fifth-place efforts put forth by Carrington Pitts and Braden Getz.

Royals place ninth at county meet

Six Roncalli swimmers established lifetime-best times at the Marion County meet, those being by Sarah Jasheway (50 backstroke and 500 freestyle), Elizabeth McCoy, Izabel Kuntz and Amelia Shirley (200 free) and Grace Lux and Liliana Martinez (200 individual medley).

Roncalli takes 13th among Marion County teams

Two Royals participants, Sam Xochitlatoa (200 freestyle) and Ben Kruse (50 free and 100 breaststroke), completed their events with lifetime-best times at the annual Marion County meet.
