Host Lancers advance to final

Caleb Dewey became Edinburgh’s all-time scoring leader and the Lancers earned a spot in the final of the Johnson Memorial Health Classic by topping Austin, 63-36, in a semifinal clash on Tuesday night. Dewey scored 24 points and surpassed the school’s previous standard of 1,411 points, set by Kyle Wuest in 2012.

The Class A No. 9 Lancers (7-2) will face Indianapolis Lutheran in tonight’s championship game.

Edinburgh had comfortably advanced into the semi with a 62-36 win over Hagerstown in the first round. Jarrett Turner led the Lancers with 18 points in that contest, followed by Dewey with 14 and Keegan Smith with 11.

Cougars reach Monrovia final

Greenwood Christian won a pair of games in the Monrovia Holiday Classic, opening with a 55-49 win over North Putnam and then punching its ticket to the final with a 51-38 semifinal win over Borden. Max Booher had 34 points on the day for GCA (5-3), with Blake Shewmaker adding 29.

Warriors hit century mark in rout

Whiteland crushed North Vermillion, 101-36, in the opening round of the Clay City Classic. Gavin Stubbe had 14 points for the Warriors (3-6); Austin Willoughby, Avery Scifres and Jazz Banwait scored 12 apiece; DJ Helm and Brayden Roy each contributed 10; and Wiatt McLaughlin and Spencer Gillespie each finished with nine.

Braves advance to title game

Class 3A No. 3 Indian Creek moved into the championship game of the Bloom Bank Classic in Lebanon, posting a 54-36 victory over Greenfield-Central and then edging Mooresville, 55-51, in an evening semifinal. Faith Wiseman had 19 points and 12 rebounds in the opening-round win over the Cougars, while Lauren Foster added 17 points and six assists. Against the Pioneers, Foster scored 19 and Ayla Lollar 12, with Abby Fleetwood adding nine points, six boards and five assists.

The Braves (15-0) will face either Pike or Perry Meridian in the final this afternoon.
