William C. “WC” Chambers

GREENWOOD

William Clarence “WC” Chambers, 78 of Greenwood, IN passed away Thursday January 12, 2023, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, IN. He was born October 6, 1944, in Danville, KY to Irvin D. and Lillian Elizabeth (Bryant) Chambers.

He married Cynthia Lynn (Koehrn) Chambers on September 14, 1984, at Honey Creek Church in Greenwood, IN, she survives.

WC was a graduate of Burgin High School in Danville, KY.

He had been a maintenance worker at Greenwood Community High School for ten years. Previously he had been a manager for Bunzl in Indianapolis for ten years.

He was a member of Honey Creek Church in Greenwood.

WC enjoyed working on cars, having built six racecars and dirt car racing. Spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him much joy.

Survivors include his wife Cynthia Lynn (Koehrn) Chambers of Greenwood, IN, his sons Tommy Chambers (Connie) of Lancaster, KY and Chris Cummings (Connie) of Franklin, IN, grandchildren Jeremy Chambers, Courtney Turpin (Nick), Brittany Maples, Caitlin Calvert and McKenzie Houchin, twelve great grandchildren, sisters Mary Frances Gross of Danville, KY and Thelma Jean Hall Yocum (Gary) of Lexington, KY, and a special daughter Suz Selph of Greenwood, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Caleb Christopher Cummings on November 11, 2009, a brother David Chambers, a sister Lou Annae McKinney and brother-in-law Billy Gross.

Mark Vanhook will conduct a service on Tuesday January 17, 2023, at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Tuesday January 17, 2023, from 10AM until service time at the mortuary. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
