Softball

Trojans coast to road win

Class 4A No. 2 Center Grove powered its way to a 15-6 victory at No. 8 Pendleton Heights on Friday. Madisyn Tharpe went 2 for 2 with a double and three RBIs for the Trojans (3-0), who also got a home run from Riley Janda. Winning pitcher Riley Henson struck out 11 on the evening.

Baseball

Local contests washed out

Storms throughout the area forced the postponement of numerous games on Friday afternoon. Franklin’s home game against Roncalli was stopped after the first inning; Greenwood’s home game against Highland and Whiteland’s game at Scottsburg were called off before getting started.

Cougars roll past Morristown

Greenwood Christian crushed Morristown on Thursday, 15-5. Cole Mulhauser had five runs batted in on two hits for the Cougars, who scored six runs in the third inning and put the game away with five more in the sixth.

Wrestling

State finals to move to Evansville

The IHSAA announced Friday that the Ford Center in Evansville will host the 2024 state finals, scheduled for Feb. 16-17 next winter. It will mark the first time that Evansville has hosted a state championship event in any sport.

Gainbridge Fieldhouse, which has served as the host venue since it opened in 2000, is hosting NBA All-Star Weekend on those dates.
