Michael Tomey Deel Sr., age 62, passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2023. Mike was born on February 16, 1961, in Martinsville, Indiana to the late Walter Thomas Deel and Joyce Elaine Lukenbill. He was a current resident of Owensboro, KY, and a former resident of Franklin, IN.
He is survived by his children: Danielle Nicole Marling (Melody LaShure), Bath, NY; Michael Tomey Deel II (Andrea), Mitchell, IN; Christopher Adams (Randilynn, Michelle Hayes), Franklin, IN; Tomey Michael Deel, Franklin, IN; Dalton Isaiah Joseph Deel (Jayne Gangl), Shelbyville, IN; Torey Burbrink. Shelbyville, IN; Matthew Clarkston, Florida; Christina Carr, Indianapolis, IN. Mike is also survived by his two brothers, Thomas Jeffery Deel (Sherry), Franklin, IN; David Ray Deel (Toni Hall), Mitchell, IN; brother-in-law Armas Ole’ Yrttima Sr., Florida; sister-in-law Kathy Sue Deel, Terre Haute, IN; eight nephews and nieces: Dustin Deel (Tia), Bill Deel (Krista); Chasidy Gardner; Jenilyn Yrttima-Anderson (Lucas); Dashia Deel; Matthew Jewell (Audrey); Randy Jewell (Jessica); Krysta Goodin (Jacob); eight grandchildren, seventeen great nieces, and nephews; one-second great nephew. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; brother, William Henry Deel; sister, Tiffany Lynn Yrttima; nephew, Derrick Storm Deel; nephew Armas Ole Yrttima Jr.; great nephew, Deaven Storm Deel.
Mike was an Army veteran who also retired from being an over-the-road long-haul semi-truck driver. He graduated from Indiana State University and Ivy Tech School and earned his bachelor’s degree in general education and psychology. He was a free spirit who loved music, and spending time with his family, and friends, he had a love for animals and reading his Bible. Mike was an avid game show Jeopardy watcher and was quick-witted in answering questions.
A celebration of life will be held at the home of Michael T. Deel II, 3795 Tunnelton-Bono Rd., Mitchell, IN 47446, on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 4:30 p.m.
