Girls tennis

Center Grove tops Plainfield

No. 10 Center Grove shuffled its lineup a bit but still had no trouble defeating Plainfield, 4-1, on Thursday. Sloane Small and Emerson Donaldson were winners at second and third singles for the Trojans, Ava Beecher and Lauren Dick won at first doubles and the No. 2 doubles team of Anna Runkle and Peri Small was also victorious.

Braves sweep Spartans

Indian Creek dominated Southwestern, 5-0, with singles players Lauren Lewis, Reese Tunell and Kylie Lemmon dropping just two games between them. Olivia Perry and Addy Tunell earned a point at No. 1 doubles for the Braves (6-2), while Lanie Swanson and Alexa Sichting remained unbeaten at second doubles.

Warriors shut out Pioneers

Whiteland won its Mid-State Conference tilt with Mooresville, 5-0, on Thursday.

Trojans take care of Royals

Jacob Murphy got the win on the mound as Class 4A No. 1 Center Grove bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 4-1 home win over Roncalli on Thursday.

Lancers drop road contest

Edinburgh suffered an 18-3 loss at North Decatur. Jarrett Turner had two hits and two RBIs for the Lancers (1-9, 0-6 Mid-Hoosier), while Jared Myers also had two hits and Milas Burkman drove in a run.

Indian Creek thumps Eagles

Carter Modlin homered twice and drove in four runs to help lead Indian Creek to a 22-2 rout of Brown County on Wednesday night. Talan Steinway added another round-tripper for the Braves, who pounded out 20 hits.

Softball

Edinburgh crushes Chargers

Gracie Crawhorn went 4 for 5 with six RBIs as Edinburgh routed North Decatur, 22-5, on Thursday. MacKenzie Bieker homered and drove in four runs while Kenna Streeval went 5 for 5 for the Lancers (6-5, 4-1 Mid-Hoosier), who scored 11 runs in the first inning.

Center Grove edges Avon

In a battle of top-five teams, Class 4A No. 2 Center Grove pulled out an 11-10 win at fourth-ranked Avon.

Rebels drub Covenant

Natalie Summers clubbed a pair of home runs and had 5 RBIs as Class 4A No. 1 Roncalli beat Covenant Christian. Avery Clark was the winning pitcher for the Royals (8-1-1), who got three hits from Carley Keller and two RBIs apiece from Emma Fegan and Anna Dressman.

Boys golf

Trojans get past Brebeuf

Center Grove earned a 158-170 victory over Brebeuf Jesuit on Thursday. Robbie Falls led the Trojans with a 37, Noah Parsetich and Mike Young each shot 40 and Brady Fanter rounded out the scoring with a 41.

Miscellany

Roncalli trio honored at banquet

Whiteland native and Roncalli senior Keagan Rothrock was named the Girls Athlete of the Year at the Indiana High School Sports Awards, which were presented Wednesday night at Butler University. Other Royals honored included Bryce Lowery, who was named Wrestler of the Year, and Luke Hansen, who was a Mr. Football finalis.
