Cougars get better of Lancers

Ian Reed and Noah Reed shared medalist honors with matching rounds of 37 as Greenwood Christian beat Edinburgh, 171-199, at Smock on Thursday. Parker Satre added a 44 for the Cougars, while Max Blandford paced the Lancers in defeat with a 39.

Trojans finish third

Center Grove posted a team score of 302 to finish third behind host Westfield (287) and Zionsville (292). The Trojans were led by a 74 from Nathan Springer, while Brady Schier (75), Brody Holubar (76) and James Beetz (77) were all close behind.

Girls tennis

Edinburgh squeaks past Madison

A 6-2, 6-7, 10-8 triumph at second singles by Zoey Sida allowed Edinburgh to pull out a 3-2 win over Madison on Thursday. Jessica Walsh was a winner at No. 1 singles for the Lancers, while Jillian Turner and Gracie Myers picked up a point at No. 1 doubles.

Braves shut out Artesians

Indian Creek cruised to a 5-0 victory at Martinsville. Lauren Lewis, Reese Tunell and Kylie Lemmon took the three singles points for the Braves (9-3), while Olivia Perry and Addy Tunell were victorious at first doubles and the No. 2 pair of Lanie Swanson and Alexa Sichting stayed unbeaten with a win.

Grizzly Cubs keep rolling

Eighth-ranked Franklin defeated Bishop Chatard, 5-0, to remain unbeaten on the spring.

Roncalli dominates Ritter

Roncalli dropped just one game on the way to a 5-0 rout of Cardinal Ritter.

Softball

Lancers blank Yellow Jackets

Edinburgh posted an 8-0 shutout win over visiting Morristown on Thursday. Alix Streeval, Gracie Crawhorn and Gracie Barrett each drove in two runs for the Lancers (7-6, 5-1 Mid-Hoosier).

Royals subdue Martinsville

Keagan Rothrock pitched a perfect game and struck out 11 as Class 4A No. 2 Roncalli was a 13-0 winner at Martinsville. Rothrock also homered and drove in six runs for the Royals (13-2-1), who got two RBIs each from Emma Fegan, Ann Marie Meek and Carley Keller.

Track and field

Woodmen split three-way

Greenwood lost to host Plainfield but beat Martinsville in a three-way met on Thursday. The Woodmen boys got first-place finishes from Samuel Grimes (1,600 and 3,200 meters) and William Riley (200), while the girls got wins from Emma Gardner (shot put and discus), Makena Cruse (800) and Lilly Rollings (3,200).

Roncalli sweeps Fighting Irish

Andrew Mayer had eight kills and 13 kills to help Roncalli to a 25-19 25-17 25-15 victory over Cathedral on Thursday.
