Donna Kay (Younce) Kuehl

FRANKLIN, IN.

Donna Kay (Younce) Kuehl, 80 of Franklin, IN and formerly of Rochester, IN passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN.

She was a born September 23, 1942, in Marion, Grant County, Indiana to Don and Betty (Merritt) Younce.

She attended Converse High School and was Salutatorian of the first graduating class from Oak Hill High School in Converse, IN. She received her BS and MA degrees from Ball State University with additional credits toward gifted and talented.

On August 3, 1963, upon the completion of her BS degree, she married her best friend and soul mate, Ron Kuehl, a teacher at Rochester High School. Donna moved to Rochester, IN in August of 1963.

She taught grades 3 and 4 at Richland Center and kindergarten at Kewanna, IN. With the birth of their two children Ron Jr. and Susan, Donna realized that her most important job was to be a mother.

Donna stayed home with her children until they were in school. She then became a teacher at Grace Nursery School at Grace United Methodist Church. In 1980, Bryon Tenky, Deputy Prosecutor asked Donna if she would be his secretary and part time director of the Title IV-D Child Support enforcement program, a position which she held until her retirement in February of 2011.

She and her husband Ron also owned and operated a needlework and quilt shop, “The Sample” in North Manchester, IN from 1985 until 1996.

She was a member of Sigma Delta Phi, Tri Kappa, the Grace Church in Rochester choir, Love Notes and bell choir, charter member of the Sycamore Ridge EGA.

Survivors include her husband Ron E. Kuehl of Franklin, IN, her son Ron Kuehl Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Royal Oak, MI, her daughter Susan Fisher and her husband Darrin of Whiteland, IN, three grandchildren Reagan Kuehl of Royal Oak, MI, Evan Fisher and Grace Fisher both of Whiteland, IN and a sister Mary Lou Wittig of Florence, MA.

Her parents and sister Dale Lynn Wright preceded her in death.

Dr. Rev. Jenothy Irvine will conduct a celebration of life service on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 3:30 PM at Grace United Methodist Church 1300 East Adams Street in Franklin, IN. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 1:30PM until service time at the church.

A private inurnment service will take place at a later date at Metzger Cemetery in Miami County, IN.
