Fundraisers planned to honor Trooper Smith’s life

Bargersville-based CGX CrossFit will be hosting an event in honor of fallen Indiana State Trooper Aaron Smith later this month.

The Aaron Smith Memorial Workout of the Day and Fundraiser will take place on July 30 at CGX CrossFit, 571 Industrial Drive, Bargersville. Smith, 33, was an active member of the CGX CrossFit community in Bargersville.

Smith died in the line of duty on June 28th after police say a Missouri man intentionally veered into the lane where he was deploying stop sticks to strike him during a police pursuit on Ronald Reagan Parkway in Hendricks County.

For the event, workouts will be at 8 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. It will be followed by a fundraiser and celebration of life, according to the fitness center.

Those wanting more information about the event and donations are asked to contact Jen Binkley at 317-435-7125.
