Document shredding, electronics recycling event coming up

Johnson County Recycling District and Shares, Inc. will host a document shredding and electronics collection event from 9 a.m. to noon on August 19.

The event will be held at the county recycling center at 900 Arvin Road, Franklin.

The event is free and open to Johnson County residents. Documents will be collected in locked containers and shredded off-site at Shares, Inc. in Shelbyville. Electronics will also be accepted, with the exception of TVs and monitors.

The Johnson County Tox Box will also be open for residential use, 9 a.m. to noon by appointment only. Visit JCRD.org to set an appointment. The Tox Box is located at 1051 Hospital Road, Franklin.

The following items can be disposed of for free at the Tox Box: household cleaning supplies, yard and pool chemicals, automotive fluids, poisons, aerosol can, adhesives, oil-based paint and stain. No latex paint, batteries, or light bulbs will be accepted.

The Tox Box is open for Johnson County residents only and no businesses, contractors or small-quantity generators will be accepted.
