COLOR THE COUNTY, 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 5, Johnson County Public Library Franklin branch book barn, 401 S. State St.

Be a part of making public art during the annual Color the County mural painting day, organized by the Johnson County Community Foundation. People of all ages and skills can come and help create two paint-by-number murals, one by Gabriel Yaden and the other by Chrissy Robertson.

Painting supplies and refreshments will be provided. Kids will receive free coloring books and paint sets, and can take part in a variety of activities during the morning.

FRANKLIN TRAIN SHOW, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 5, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 6, Johnson County fairgrounds, 250 Fairgrounds Drive, Franklin

Model train fans can find everything they’re looking for during the Franklin Train Show, presented by the Central Indiana Division of the National Model Railroad Association. Four buildings across the fairgrounds will be filled with model railroad layouts, ranging from the very small TT gauge to the G gauge, or garden railroad size. Another building has been set aside for demonstrations.

Nearly 70 hobbyists and vendors will be selling equipment and supplies throughout the show. Admission is $7 per adult, or $5 with proof of National Model Railroad Association membership.
