Benjamin H. ‘Ben’ Milton, age 74 passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, August 9, 2023 at his home in Whiteland.

Ben was born March 5, 1949 in Ashville, North Carolina to his parents, the late Thomas and Lucille Milton. He was a 1967 graduate of Peru High School and was drafted into the United States Army, where served as a Paramedic for 130th General Army Hospital in Nuremberg, Germany.

Ben retired in 2014 as a Diesel Mechanic for United Van Lines in Indianapolis after 25 years of service. He enjoyed his summers at Lake Lemon by relaxing, boating and fishing. Ben was a fan of old western movies with John Wayne being his favorite actor. His retirement project was restoring his 1965 Corvette, which he often referred to as ‘his baby’. Ben loved spending time with his family, especially the love of his life, Julie, and his grandchildren. ‘Gentle Ben’ as he was often called, will be missed deeply by those that loved and cared for him.

Benjamin is survived by his longtime companion of 21 years, Julia Pinson of Whiteland; children, Michael Milton and Carol Milton both of Indianapolis; step-children, Derek (Dannelle) Pinson of Indianapolis &Amber (Gary) Helton of Whiteland; siblings, Joseph (Barbara) Milton and Lori (Mike) Sims both of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Hunter and Hayleigh Helton.

A Celebration of Ben’s Life will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 14th at Flinn &Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton in Franklin. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Military rites will be presented by the Franklin Honor Guard and the United States Army. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation &Personalization Center in Morgantown.
