One of Johnson County’s most popular events returns, as WAMMfest gathers the community together in celebration of wine, art, music and microbrews. The Spin Doctors, the Grammy Award-nominated band responsible for hits such as “Two Princes,” headlines the festival, with groups such as Parrots of the Caribbean and the Blue River Band also taking the stage throughout the day.

Ten local breweries and four wineries will be showing off their craft beverage skills, and food options range from pizza to barbecue to TexMex. Tickets are $25, with children 12 and under free. A VIP package, featuring exclusive seating, parking and restrooms, is available for $75.

SENIOR SUMMIT, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 23, Grace Assembly of God, 6822 S. U.S. 31, Whiteland

Area seniors get an entire day dedicated to them during the annual Senior Summit, an event packed full of life-enhancing education, uplifting entertainment, enrichment resources, fellowship, door prizes, lunch and more. Speakers will discuss issues such as nutrition for healthy aging, avoiding scams, identifying caregiver fatigue and more.
