Girls golf

Trojans edge No. 1 Carmel

Lexi Stuart shot a 2-under-par 33 and Abby Rich added a 34 as No. 3 Center Grove pulled out a 142-145 win over top-ranked Carmel during a three-way match with Fishers at Hickory Stick on Tuesday. Camille Short (37) and Magnolia Miller (38) rounded out the scoring for the Trojans.

Braves shut out Spartans

Indian Creek cruised to a 5-0 victory over Southwestern on Tuesday, with Grant Dalton, Aaron Spurgeon and Alan Ellis sweeping the three singles points. Trent Volz and Landon Sichting won at No. 1 doubles, while Mason Frishe and Nick Winters were victorious in the second spot.

Woodmen sweep Artesians

Greenwood picked up its first Mid-State Conference win by blanking Martinsville, 5-0. Noah Paswater, Carter Chatham and Ian Ratliff swept the singles points for the Woodmen (6-2, 1-1), Dominic Soubeih and Will Davidson won a three-set battle at first doubles and the No. 2 pairing of Brayden Holman and Nick Pruett won in straight sets.

Whiteland takes out Panthers

Three-set singles victories from Spencer Gillespie and Carson Baumann helped Whiteland cap off a 5-0 win over Bloomington South. Jeremiah Hurt earned a point at No. 3 singles, while the Warriors (4-1) also got doubles wins from Chase and Kai Koester at No. 1 and Gavin Stubbe and Isaac Phegley at No. 2.

Grizzly Cubs lose to New Pal

Franklin was defeated by New Palestine, 4-1. The Grizzly Cubs’ lone point came at second doubles, where Luke Sherry and Jaxson Doddridge were a 6-4, 6-3 winner.

Edinburgh blanked by Braves

Edinburgh suffered a 5-0 defeat against Brownstown Central.

Volleyball

Lancers defeat Yellow Jackets

MacKenzie Bieker collected 12 kills, 26 digs, six blocks and three aces to help Edinburgh to a 25-8, 27-25, 26-24 triumph over Morristown on Tuesday. Zoey Sida added 10 kills for the Lancers, who also got 28 digs from Kenna Streeval and 34 assists from Kyah Streeval.

Grizzly Cubs keep rolling

Franklin remained undefeated with a 25-7, 25-20, 25-11 sweep of Decatur Central. The Grizzly Cubs improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Mid-State Conference.

Trojans fall in four sets

Class 4A No. 10 Center Grove suffered its first loss of the season, dropping a four-set decision to No. 8 Cathedral, 25-19, 25-20, 19-25, 25-18.

Indian Creek was a 25-10, 25-18, 25-15 winner over Southwestern. Faith Wiseman and Mattie Key had nine and seven kills, respectively, for the Braves.

Whiteland used goals from Noah Grady and Austin Cooper to earn a 2-1 victory at New Palestine on Tuesday. Cameron Reid added an assist for the Warriors (2-2-1).
