Cross country

Braves second in Columbus

Libby Dowty was the individual winner on the girls side and both of Indian Creek’s teams finished second in the small school division Saturday at the Rick Weinheimer Cross Country Classic in Columbus. Dowty’s time of 17:52.8 was the best among all girls regardless of school size by nearly 20 seconds and the best in the small-school race by more than a minute. Phoebe Dowty, Brooke Ulerick and Cloe Leap also had season-best times for the Creek girls. On the boys side, the Braves were led by Luke Neibert, who placed fifth among small-school runners at 16:10.7; Noah Greenwood was 10th in 16:29.7.

In the large school meet, Whiteland’s Tori Jackson ran an 18:54.4 to finish third, helping the Warriors to a fifth-place team showing. Greenwood was eighth, led by a sixth-place effort from Lily Rollings. Greenwood’s boys were ninth and Whiteland’s 14th.

Girls soccer

Woodmen blank Hawks

Lizzy Metzger scored both goals as Greenwood defeated Decatur Central on Saturday, 2-0. Goalkeeper Bre Wheatley posted the shutout for the Woodmen (4-1-1, 2-1-1 Mid-State).

Trojans defeat Spartans

Center Grove got goals from Madi Kramer and Taylor Wert on the way to a 3-1 win over Homestead. Taylor Townley had an assist for the Trojans (2-3-1).

Boys tennis

Waldron shuts out Lancers

Edinburgh was defeated by Waldron on Saturday, 5-0.
