Warriors advance in sectional

No. 20 Whiteland defeated Indian Creek, 4-1, in the opening round of the Center Grove Sectional on Tuesday. Spencer Gillespie, Carson Baumann and Jeremiah Hurt all won their singles matches in straight sets for the Warriors, while Isaac Phegley and Gavin Stubbe added a win at No. 2 doubles. The Braves got their lone point from Trent Volz and Landon Sichting, who won a three-set battle at first doubles.

The Warriors will face the host Trojans in a semifinal match this afternoon.

Boys soccer

Trojans defeat Cougars

Class 3A No. 5 Center Grove earned a 4-2 victory over visiting Bloomington North on Tuesday. Ely Detty, Matheus Gubert, Owen Dorrell and Griffin Worley scored goals for the Trojans.

Volleyball

Whiteland sweeps Pioneers

Whiteland needed just three sets to defeat Mooresville on Tuesday, 25-23, 25-12, 25-14.

Royals claim conference title

Roncalli clinched the Circle City Conference championship Monday night with a three-set sweep of Heritage Christian. The Class 4A No. 4 Royals improved to 19-3 overall and 5-0 in league play.
