Johnson County’s four Class 4A volleyball teams could end up playing one another for sectional championships next week.
In the IHSAA pairings released Sunday night, Center Grove was placed on the opposite side of the bracket from host Greenwood, while the other local home team, Franklin, has Whiteland as a potential opponent in the final.
Of course, all four teams have work to do to reach those possible matchups.
The Trojans drew a first-round bye and will face either Bloomington South or Bloomington North in a semifinal match on Oct. 14; the Woodmen, who were placed directly into the other semifinal, will see either Martinsville or Mooresville.
Franklin plays East Central in an opening-round tilt on Oct. 12, with the winner to take on Columbus East. Whiteland got a bye on the bottom half of the draw, and the Warriors will await the Shelbyville-Columbus North winner on Oct. 14.
In the Class 3A Northview Sectional, Indian Creek will face Edgewood in a first-round tilt on Oct. 12; the winner plays either South Vermillion or the host Knights in a semifinal matchup.
Greenwood Christian will play Central Christian Oct. 12 in the first round of the Class A Indianapolis Lutheran Sectional; should the Cougars survive, they’d meet either the host Saints or Victory College Prep in an Oct. 14 semifinal. In other Class A action at Waldron, Edinburgh plays South Decatur on Oct. 10; the host Mohawks await the winner.
All sectional championship matches are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Oct. 14, with winners moving on to the regionals the following Saturday (Oct. 21).
