James Richard “Dick” Garrett

GREENWOOD

James Richard “Dick” Garrett, 90 of Greenwood, IN passed away Friday, September 29, 2023 at

Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born October 23, 1932 in Indianapolis, IN to Richard David Garrett and Dorothy Lee

(Hunter) Garrett. He married Phyllis E. (Brown) Crouch Garrett on November 1, 2003 at Grace

Assembly of God Church in Greenwood, IN, she survives.

Dick was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, IN.

He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War.

Dick had been a service manager of McGinty Dodge on the Indianapolis Southside from 1964

until 1979. He owned and operated D&B Woodworking. After retirement, he worked part-time

as a delivery associate for Milto Cleaners.

He was a member of Grace Assembly of God Church in Greenwood, a 50-year member of the

American Model Association and enjoyed flying radio control planes, founding member of the

Southside Radio Control Club, was Hamm Radio operator, past director of the weather directors

of the American Red Cross and enjoyed collecting HO gauge model steam train engines.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis E. (Brown) Crouch Garrett of Greenwood, IN, his children

James L. Garrett (Christine) of Greenwood, IN, Cheryl L. White (Robert) of Nineveh, IN, Kevin

Crouch of Franklin, IN, Lynn Byers (Bob) of Nicholasville, KY, Shawn Crouch of Whiteland, IN and

Terry Crouch of Martinsville, IN, grandchildren Jennifer R. Harper (Brad), James L. Garrett

(Kristen), Heather Long (Brock), Erin Groce (Casey), Delena Bumpous (Kody) and Daniel White,

Terry Crouch Jr., Krista Crouch, Beth Lindle, eleven great grandchildren and a half-brother David

M. Garrett (Barbara) of Beech Grove, IN.

His parents preceded him in death, a brother Thomas L. Garrett and a grandson Ben Lindle.

Pastor Wayne Murray will conduct a service on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 11:30 AM at

Grace Assembly of God Church 6822 North U.S. 31 Whiteland, IN. Friends may call Tuesday,

October 3, 2023 from 4PM until 8PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial

Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Burial with military honors by the

United States Army Honor Guard and American Legions Honor Guard will follow the service at

Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
