GREENWOOD
89, of Greenwood, passed away October 11, 2023. She was born December 13, 1933 to the late Hobart and Retta (Roberts) Barbee. Wilma was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. She married James W. Thomas, and he preceded her in death November 26, 2021. She was preceded in death by her brother, Talmadge Edward Barbee and her twin sister Thelma D. Ponting. Wilma was a bus driver for Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic School for 39 years. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church and the first President of the Ladies Guild of Knights of Columbus MSGR. Bernard P. Sheridan Council #6138.
Visitation will be Friday, October 20, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Thompson Road Chapel, 3333 East Thompson Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, 335 S. Meridian Street with funeral procession to Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Wilma is survived by her children, Rosemary K. (Daniel C.) Obert, Sharon D. (Guy R.) Perry, Mark W. Thomas, Garett J. Thomas and Annette F. (Wade “Allen”) Taylor; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
