Discover Downtown Franklin names new director

Discover Downtown Franklin has a new executive director. But the organization’s new leader has been a familiar face during the city’s downtown revitalization over the years.

Daniel Causey has been officially named executive director of Discover Downtown Franklin, the group’s board announced Tuesday. He comes to the organization after working for 10 years as director of architectural salvage with Franklin Heritage, a preservation group.

“We are excited to have a leader with local ties who has such a passion for the downtown and the skills to enhance the work Discover Downtown Franklin currently undertakes,” said Dana Monson, board president for Discover Downtown Franklin.

In his new role, Causey will lead Discover Downtown Franklin, a nationally accredited Indiana Main Street organization, as the non-profit grows its work of supporting downtown Franklin businesses and promoting the city. He plans to expand on the work the organization is well known for, such as the annual Strawberries on the Square event and the Franklin Farmer’s Market.

Using the four-point approach developed by the Main Street program, Causey and his will increase the social media support of local businesses, work to develop stronger relationships with supporters, and transition from the goal of bringing visitors to the city to encouraging visitors to spend more time in the city, especially the local shops and restaurants.

Causey will join Jennifer Weltich, economic vitality specialist for Discover Downtown Franklin, on Nov. 13 as they begin to create a new strategic plan for the organization.
