Girls basketball

Top-ranked Braves keep rolling

Faith Wiseman totaled 27 points, 12 rebounds, eight blocked shots and seven assists as Class 3A No. 1 Indian Creek crushed Monrovia on Saturday, 86-42. Lauren Foster added 19 points and eight assists for the Braves (3-0), while Ayla Lollar hit all five of her 3-point attempts on the way to 17 points. Indian Creek led 35-9 after the first quarter.

Cougars swat Hornets

Greenwood Christian snapped a three-game losing skid with a 52-26 home rout of Medora on Saturday. Sydney Waldron had 17 points to lead the Cougars (2-3), while Kate Reed contributed 11 points and Faith Kresge posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Swimming and diving sweeps Transy

Franklin College wrapped up its weekend road trip to Kentucky with a Saturday dual meet at Transylvania, with the women rolling to a 221-78 win and the men bouncing back from a Friday setback with a 169-115 victory.

Samantha Phillips (first in the 100 butterfly and 200 and 1,000 freestyle) and Caileigh McCafferty (200 fly, 100 free and 200 breaststroke) led the women with three individual victories apiece. Kat Lundy (100 backstroke), Petal Sloan (500 free), Celeste Hollis (50 free), Jyllian Antle (200 back), Regan Hendricks (400 IM) and Carley Bond (3-meter diving) added wins for the Grizzlies, who also won both relays. For the men, Jack Burke (100 and 200 backstroke), Kosmo Wojack (200 butterfly, 400 IM) and Cameron Baker (1- and 3-meter diving) were all double winners, while Zachary Jackson-Blaine (100 freestyle), Stone Conaway (50 free) and the 200 freestyle relay all adding first-place finishes.

Cross country wraps season at regional

Franklin College closed out its season in Ohio Saturday afternoon, competing in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The men ran to a 19th-place team finish in the 42-team field, while the women were 32nd.

John Asplund was the top individual for the Grizzly men, taking 77th in 25:15.3. Jack Sells (84th) and Sam Wilson (87th) also landed in the top 100. Haley Makowski paced the women, finishing 137th with a personal best of 23:42.1.
