GREENWOOD
Jeanne Laureen Donahue Sheehan, 69, of Greenwood, IN passed away peacefully in hospice on November 7, 2023. She is survived by two loving sons, Rob and Kevin Sheehan, sisters Kathy Chilenski (Walt), Judy Donahue, Dianne Rossmann (Ed), Patty Ciresi (Jerry), Stephanie Whitmore, brothers Terry and Tim Donahue, 6 sisters-in-law, 5 brothers-in-law, 17 nieces and nephews, and more great-nieces/nephews than could possibly be counted.
In addition to raising a family and donating her considerable talents to her home parishes of Holy Cross and Our Lady of the Greenwood, Jeanne enjoyed two successful careers prior to retirement, first as a Vice President at Indiana Insurance and ultimately as Manager of Applications and Web Development for the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library.
Jeanne’s motto was, “Take every opportunity to celebrate,” and that’s exactly how she lived her life. Her home was decorated for every holiday; she loved showering loved ones with thoughtful gifts year-round, and her Christmas presents were always wrapped to glorious excess. She used her gifts unselfishly, and retained her Irish humor, brilliant analytical skills, and constant focus on the well-being of others throughout her life.
She adored children, fantasy and mystery novels, Hallmark ornaments, craft projects, Indiana history, Korean TV shows, genealogy, miniatures, Hoagy Carmichael, The Lovin’ Spoonful, Starbucks lattes, and Walker’s Shortbread Cookies. Her most enduring joy and passion was her family, who will miss her terribly, but love her forever.
Jeanne was preceded in death by parents Lawrence and Mary Donahue, sister Sharon “Shari” Donahue, parents-in-law Bob and Joan Sheehan, brother-in-law Ed Rossman, sister-in-law Celia “Ceil” Sheehan, great-niece Alicia “Leci” Whitmore, and her beloved husband of 41 years, Vincent Sheehan.
She was close to sisters-in-law Dawn Cox (Darren), Mary Horton (Ron), Maggie Sheehan, Genny Short, and brother-in-law Kevin P. Sheehan (Nancy Conway). Her many nieces and nephews include David Chilenski (Sarah), Ellen Woerner (Mike), Anne Tampow (Rick), Laura Starr (Andrew), Joe Ciresi, Andrew Whitmore (Jenny Schmidt), Vanessa Whitmore (Steve Rosicato), Mitchell Donahue, Cagney Sheehan (Lauren), Genna Short, Kaleb Short, Patrick Ryan Sheehan (Hailey), Amy Riley (Mike), Kelly Conway (Jennifer), Dan Conway, and Kathy Conway.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 16th from 5pm-8pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service &Crematory Greenwood Chapel 481 W. Main Street Greenwood, Indiana. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church 335 S. Meridian Street Greenwood, Indiana on Friday, November 17 at 12pm, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Riley Children’s Foundation or the IU Health Foundation.
