Indiana DCS holding public meeting for biennial plan feedback

The Indiana Department of Child Services will be holding a public hearing to take testimony during a biennial public meeting for DCS Region 14.

The Child Protection Service Plan/Biennial Regional Service Strategic Plan is prepared bi-annually pursuant to Indiana Code 21-33-4-1 and IC 31-26-6-5. The Department of Child Services is seeking public testimony on the provision of child protection services, local service need and system change. The services will be targeted to the individual needs of children identified by the DCS or children alleged or adjudicated as children in need of services or delinquent, according to a hearing notice.

To accommodate a large number of potential speakers, testimony will be limited to three minutes per speaker and will be given in the order of signature on a sign-in sheet available on the day of the hearing. Submission of written comments/testimony is encouraged at the time of the hearing, the notice says.

Region 14 consists of Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson and Shelby counties. This region’s hearing will take place at 9 a.m. Dec. 13 at Bartholomew County DCS, 4445 Ray Boll Boulevard, Suite A, Columbus, IN 47203.
