Richard “Rick” Scott Moss

FRANKLIN

Richard Scott Moss, known affectionately as Rick, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by family on November 17, 2023, at the age of 50. He was born on August 9, 1973, in Idaho Falls, ID, to Scott and Kelli Moss.

Rick was a devoted husband to Kim and a loving father to his children, Jordan and Courtney. He is also survived by his parents, Scott and Kelli Moss; his sisters, Didi (Mike) Jorde and Cara (Jesse) Harper; his brother-in-law, Tye (Steffi) Jacobson; and his nieces and nephews, Taylor, Brooke, Austin, Dylan, Jayce, Alex, and Emily.

Rick is preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Colleen Moss and Dean and Marsha Packer; and his in-laws, John and Linda Mortensen.

Rick attended Idaho Falls High School and went on to serve his country with honor and dedication in the Army for 26 years. His military associations were a testament to his bravery and commitment.

Rick found solace and strength in his faith, worshiping at Grace United Methodist Church. He held his beliefs close to his heart and found comfort in the community of believers.

In his leisure time, Rick enjoyed the art of cooking and barbecuing. He would spend hours perfecting his BBQ, utilizing EVERY utensil in the kitchen to create delicious meals. Rick then became a volunteer manager at the Artcraft Theatre, reaching 465 volunteer hours on that famous popcorn machine, while also becoming a mentor to the teens of the theatre. Rick also found joy in assembling military model kits and Star Wars models, showcasing his attention to detail. Photography was another passion he pursued, capturing precious moments, and delving into the depths of his family’s history through genealogical research.

A time of visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:30, followed by a service at 2:30, both at Grace United Methodist Church. The burial, accompanied by military funeral honors, will take place at 3:30 pm at Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the USO, an organization that provided unwavering support to Rick during his time away from home.

The compassionate professionals at Indiana Funeral Care, located in Greenwood, IN, are assisting the family during this difficult time.

Rick Moss touched the lives of many with his kindness, devotion, and unwavering love. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, and his legacy will continue to inspire us all.
