Boys basketball

Cougars rout University

Max Booher scored 24 points to help lift Class A No. 5 Greenwood Christian to a 68-40 home win over University on Saturday. Evan McIntire totaled 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Cougars (3-1), who got 11 points from Noah Reed, eight from Jordan Taulman and seven from Ben Comerford.

Trojans fall to Tigers

Class 4A No. 3 Center Grove suffered a 53-46 loss to ninth-ranked Crispus Attucks on Saturday night in Brownsburg. Joey Schmitz led the Trojans (3-2) with 14 points, while Jalen Bundy and Dylan Meador added 12 points each.

Girls basketball

Braves roll past Greencastle

Class 3A No. 3 Indian Creek built an early lead and coasted to a 61-25 victory at Greencastle on Saturday afternoon. Lauren Foster finished with 18 points and Faith Wiseman added 17 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals for the Braves (7-2, 2-0 WIC), who also got eight points apiece from Ayla Lollar and Lexi Sichting.

Trojans shine at HOF Classic

Host Center Grove’s boys finished first and its girls second in the annual Hall of Fame Classic on Saturday morning. Henry Lyness claimed individual wins in the 100-yard individual medley and the 50 and 200 backstrokes for the Trojan boys, who also got first-place finishes from Max Hite (200 freestyle), Nikhil Iyer (50 butterfly) and the 400 freestyle relay. The girls won the 200 and 400 free relays and got individual victories from Lara Phipps (50 fly, 200 back) and Karlie Dodd (50 breast).

Franklin College

Women’s basketball rallies past Anderson

Down by 25 in the first half, Franklin College charged back to pull out a 92-87 home win over Anderson on Saturday afternoon. Payton Seay paced the Grizzlies (4-1, 1-0 HCAC) with 23 points and 12 rebounds off the bench, while Jordan Coon added 20 points, Georgia Hanauer 12 and Lauren Barker 10. Lauryn Bates and Briley Munchel each scored nine points, with Bates also grabbing 11 boards.

Men’s basketball holds off Ravens

Five players scored in double digits as Franklin College built a 16-point halftime lead and hung on for a 77-70 victory over Anderson in its HCAC opener on Saturday. Ryan Bostic scored 19 points for the Grizzlies (3-4, 1-0), followed by Lynn King (15 points), Jack Hendricks (13) and Braden Flanagan (11). Jessie Morgan III contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Greenwood grad Gavin Dowling had three points in defeat for the Ravens.
