Whiteland took a narrow 54-51 defeat against visiting Rushville on Wednesday. The Warriors (3-7) were led by a 17-point effort from Sukhman Bains, while Sophia Dyer added 10 points and Addison Emberton had nine.

Women’s basketball falls to No. 1 Transy

Facing the defending Division III national champion, Franklin College stayed close in the first quarter but couldn’t keep pace in a 73-46 home loss to No. 1 Transylvania on Wednesday. Maddie Barnes led the Grizzlies (4-2, 1-1 HCAC) with 12 points, while Lauren Barker and Payton Seay scored eight apiece.

Men’s basketball falls at Pioneers

Franklin College erased a 17-point halftime deficit but finished just short in a 78-77 setback at Transylvania. Lynn King scored 21 points and Ryan Bostic 18 for the Grizzlies (3-5, 1-1 HCAC), with Jessie Morgan Jr. adding 12 and Braden Flanagan 10. Morgan and King each grabbed nine rebounds in the loss.
