Robert “Bob” Lewis

Robert “Bob” Lewis, 86, passed away at his home on December 10, 2023. He was a lifetime resident of Whiteland.

Bob was born August 13, 1937 at his home in Whiteland to Jewell and Gertrude (Coovert) Lewis. He married Phyllis (Compton) Lewis on April 30, 1966. She lovingly survives. Other survivors include their daughters, Robbin King (Fred), Janie White (Greg), Shannon Alderson (Jimmie), Missy Emmert (Pat), and Crissy Roberts (Brandon); grandchildren, Trae White, Brandon Alderson (Kelsey), Ashley King, Brittany Kayler (Tyler), Justin Weddle, Macee Roberts, and Kalee Roberts; 6 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Mary Jo Wood, Tom Lewis, Ruthie Zumbrunn, Stephen Lewis, Paul Lewis, Jeff Lewis, Tim Lewis, Mickey Chittick, Roger Lewis, John Lewis, Crystal Ashbrook.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, Jewell and Gertrude; and siblings, Dean Lewis, Otto Lewis, Kenny Lewis, Beck Beeson, Peggy Williams, and Ranny Lewis.

Bob graduated from Whiteland High School. He served in the United States Army.

He retired from Ray Skillman after 20 years of dedicated service in the parts department.

Bob loved all sports, especially Indiana University teams and the Cincinnati Reds. But his favorite of all was watching his granddaughters play softball. He also loved watching NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt, his favorite driver. He enjoyed going to horse races with his brothers.

Bob loved his family. He enjoyed gardening, listening to music, watching cowboy movies, and tinkering in his garage.

Joe Pfennig will conduct a celebration of Bob’s life on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
