Select Horizon Bank branches to host Salvation Army Red Kettles, match donations today

Two local Horizon Bank branches will host special Red Kettles in their lobbies as part of a $5,000 match challenge today.

Horizon Bank, which has over 70 locations across Indiana and Michigan, has offered the match to encourage their customers to support the efforts of The Salvation Army as they help their neighbors in need. 2023 has been a challenging year for many Hoosier households, making the match especially appreciated in each service area, according to a news release from The Salvation Army.

“We can’t reach our goals without partners and collaborators like Horizon Bank,” said Major Rachel Stouder, area commander for The Salvation Army of Central Indiana. “Their initiative and creativity to welcome us in their doors this way is an exciting opportunity, and we look forward to celebrating the success.”

For one day only, Horizon Bank customers and visitors will have a chance to double the impact of their donations to their local Salvation Army. Nine branches are participating in the $5,000 match challenge and will have Red Kettles in their lobbies during normal business hours today, the news release says.

Local branches are:

  • 507 Three Notch Lane, Bargersville
  • 942 U.S. 31 South, Greenwood

The funds raised will support The Salvation Army Lafayette Corps Community Center, The Salvation Army Red Shield Center in Greenwood, the Indianapolis Harbor Light Center, The Salvation Army of Columbus, and the Ruth Lilly Women and Children’s Center in downtown Indianapolis. Vital services at these facilities include housing and support for homeless and abused women, food pantries and feeding programs, emergency financial assistance, youth camps and sports, addiction treatment and more, according to the news release.

“I am grateful for all our community partners as The Salvation Army continues to serve the needs of our communities throughout the state of Indiana,” said Major Marc Johnson, divisional commander for The Salvation Army Indiana Division. “Our friends at Horizon Bank continue to support our efforts, for which we are deeply grateful.”

Every donation given to The Salvation Army through the annual Red Kettle Campaign provides help and hope to those in need and all gifts stay in Indiana. As of Wednesday, the Johnson County chapter is at about 58% of its $140,000 goal, after raising money since right after Thanksgiving.
