Weekend closures planned on I-465 in I-69 construction zone

Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight I-465 eastbound will be reduced to one lane between I-70 and U.S. 31, with lanes reopening by 5 a.m. on Monday. Lane closures will allow traffic to move to newly constructed eastbound lanes as construction shifts to I-465 westbound. All three westbound lanes will remain open throughout the weekend, according to a construction update from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

During weekend restrictions, the speed limit on both east and westbound I-465 will remain at 45 miles per hour. Once the traffic shift is complete on Monday, motorists will travel on new pavement. INDOT encourages drivers to slow down, pay attention to changing conditions and avoid distractions.

Several ramps will also be closed starting this evening. The following ramps will close starting at 9 p.m. tonight and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday:

  • I-70 eastbound/westbound to I-465 southbound/eastbound
  • SR 67 (Kentucky Avenue) to/from I-465 eastbound
  • Mann Road to I-465 eastbound
  • State Road 37 (Harding Street) to/from I-465 eastbound
  • I-465 westbound to US 31 northbound (East Street)

The southbound U.S. 31 (East Street) ramp to I-465 westbound will remain closed through the spring, according to INDOT.

In addition to lane and ramp closures, existing access from northbound State Road 37 at Edgewood Avenue will permanently close and Harding Street will be restricted to single lanes north and south of the I-465 interchange beginning tonight. Restrictions on Harding Street will be in place through most of 2024 during I-465 bridge work, according to INDOT.
