James E. Wainscott
81, of Greenwood, IN, passed away December 15, 2023.
He was born in Shelbyville, IN on July 17th 1942. He served in the United States Navy on The USS Perry from 1960-1964. He then went to work in Speedway, IN at Allison Transmission – A Division of GM where he retired in 1995 after a 30 year career.
He married the love of his life Jona (Drake) on May 9, 1962. They did everything together hardly being apart. She proceeds him in death. He loved collecting die cast cars and vintage toy farm equipment. His family was everything to him and loved nothing more than to gather with them for a great meal and reminisce of day’s past.
He is survived by his children, Jamie (John) Zeilinga, Jimmy Wainscott, Grandchildren, Melanie (Jacob) &Great Grandchild Rowen Wehrling, Holly (Blaine) Bockhahn, Abbigail (Deric) Jones, Ashlynn Wainscott, and Brothers Phil Wainscott &Mike Creed.
He is preceded in death by his wife Jona Wainscott, &Granddaughter Sara Lynn.
Services will be held 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2023 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service &Crematory-Greenwood Chapel 481 W. Main St. Greenwood with visitation there Friday December 22, 2-5 p.m.
