Ronald Lee Adams

ROCKVILLE, IN.

Ronald Lee Adams, 83 of Rockville, IN passed away Wednesday December 20, 2023, at Compass Park at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin, IN.

He was born July 6, 1940, in Indianapolis, IN to Willis Franklin Adams and Bernice “Sis” (Tucker) Adams, who proceeded him in death. Ronald married Barbara Jean (Parton) Adams on April 4, 1959, in Indianapolis, IN; she preceded him in death on May 1, 2002.

Ronald was a 1958 graduate of Southport High School.

Always an entrepreneur, he and his wife owned and operated Adams Corner Caf?, the Lake Motel, and a car lot, and service station in Franklin, along with various real estate rentals. Ron previously had owned and operated a service station in Indianapolis and had worked for General Motors in Indianapolis, IN in his young married days. After selling all businesses in 1995, he and his wife traveled by motorhome across the United States, summered at their home in Parke County, IN at Raccoon Lake, and wintered in LaBelle, Florida.

Ron enjoyed playing cards, playing guitar and was known to sing some tunes. He liked boating, camping, and collecting old vehicles – his most prized being a classic 1934 Ford Roadster. After taking flying lessons and completing his solo, he owned a Cessna airplane and once owned an Ultralight Glider. He was an honest man who only tolerated the same from others. He was said to have a sense about him that would put one at ease; though he was ornery as the day is long and loved to tease and quarrel!

Survivors include his daughters Rhonda J. Hausman (Richard) of Bargersville, IN and Shelly K. Chesser (James) of Franklin, IN, six grandchildren Joseph Adams, Sheri Adams, Erin Adams, Dustin Adams (Amanda Robinson), Samantha Winters (Derek) and Lindsey Chesser, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jean (Parton) Adams on May 1, 2002, his father Willis Franklin Adams on September 17, 1969, his mother Bernice “Sis” (Tucker) Adams on February 7, 2010, and his beloved son Michael Lee Adams on January 19, 1990. He was ready to fly home to be with his wife, son and parents. No doubt, Mike had a card table ready and said, “deal ‘em dad”!
