Here’s what’s going on with I-69 the week of Jan. 16

State Road 144 is now fully open to traffic in the Interstate 69 construction zone.

Major work at the State Road 144 interchange is complete for the I-69 Finish Line Project. All construction barrels have been removed and all travel lanes are fully open to drivers, according to an Indiana Department of Transportation project update.

Further north, restrictions are expected to be removed at Smith Valley Road later this week. This is weather-dependent, according to INDOT.

Northbound State Road 37 has a single-lane restriction beginning just north of Stotts Creek and continuing for two miles. This alignment will continue through spring, and additional restrictions will occur as needed for movement of equipment, officials say.

In Marion County, overnight single and double-lane restrictions are expected this week on eastbound and westbound Interstate 465 near Bluff Road, the Indiana Railroad overpass and Harding Street. They will occur overnight between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for existing pavement and bridge demolition work. The restrictions will take place one location at a time and are weather-dependent, according to INDOT.

Demolition work is continuing on I-465 between Bluff Road and Harding Street to remove existing pavement and bridge decks. The work is causing extended periods of noise, and is taking place at night so local roads that are adjacent can remain closed while overhead work occurs, officials say.

This work is expected to continue for the next couple of weeks until the existing bridge decks and pavement of I-465 between Bluff Road and Harding Street are fully removed, according to INDOT.
