WHITELAND, IN.

Jean (Harrison) Harmon, 88 of Whiteland, IN passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN with her family by her side.She was born January 29, 1935, at the family residence in New Castle, IN to John and Mary (Fogleson) Harrison. Jean married Frank Harmon on February 10, 1957, in Indianapolis, IN, he survives.Jean was a 1954 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis, IN.She had worked for various homebuilders and title companies. In 1995, she was elected Johnson County Recorder and served until 2002 and was selected as Indiana State Recorder of the Year.She was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church and attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Franklin.Jean served on the Johnson County Election Board, was a member of the Bargersville Republican Women’s Club now known as the Johnson County Republican Women’s Club.Her passion was playing Bridge along with her friends in Bridge Clubs and spending time with her family and friends.Survivors include her husband Frank Harmon of Whiteland, IN, her son Phillip Harmon (Lesa) of Whiteland, IN, her daughter Suzanne Rakow (Tracy) of Whiteland, IN, five grandchildren Justin Harmon (Sarah), Brandon Harmon (Taeko), Carley Schwerer (Logan), Amanda Williams (Ryan) and Hannah Rakow, five great grandchildren Ryver, Saige and Cullen Harmon, Addison Havenar and Cambry Schwerer, a brother William Harrison of Hollywood, FL and several cousins and a niece.She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Michael Harrison.Father Tim DeCrane will conduct a service on Friday January 26, 2024, at 11:30AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com.
