Franklin man extricated following car crash into power pole, tree

A Franklin man was extricated from a vehicle following a crash near Edinburgh Thursday.

Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area near County Road 800 East north of County Road 650 South, on the report of a vehicle accident. When deputies arrived they located a single-vehicle accident, according to press release sent by the sheriff’s office.

A witness told first responders they saw the vehicle strike a utility pole, then a tree before coming to a rest a distance from the roadway, the accident report says.

When deputies arrived Johnson County REMC power lines were down and the driver was trapped inside his vehicle. Edinburgh Fire & Rescue extricated the driver from the vehicle, the release says.

The driver was identified as Cody Lee Morris, 32, of Franklin. He was transported via medical helicopter to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis with an incapacitating injury.
