Franklin College

Women’s basketball tops Quakers

Up just two at halftime, Franklin College used a dominating third quarter to pull away for a 78-61 win at Earlham on Saturday. Taylor Cooney led a balanced effort for the Grizzlies (15-8, 10-6 HCAC) with 14 points, followed by Brooke Grinstead with 11 and Briley Munchel with 10. Maddie Barnes and Jordan Coon scored nine points each and CiCi Bailey added eight points and eight rebounds.

Men’s basketball falls in last minute

Earlham capped a big second-half rally by scoring the game-winning bucket with 34 seconds left to edge Franklin College, 75-74. Jack Hendricks had 18 points and Jessie Morgan Jr. 16 in the loss for the Grizzlies (12-11, 10-6 HCAC), who also got 13 points from Lynn King and 10 from Braden Flanagan.

Track and field competes at DePauw

Franklin College took part in the DePauw Indoor Invitational on Saturday, with the men placing fifth as a team and the women sixth. The Grizzly men won the 4×400 relay behind the team of Eli Cochrane, Luke Paddock, Steven Scott and Drew McGaha, while the women got individual wins from Sarah O’Day in the 200 meters and Alison Muck in the high jump.
