Carolyn Ray appointed Webb Elementary principal

Franklin Community Schools has named Carolyn Ray as the new principal of Webb Elementary School.

The decision, unanimously approved by the FCS Board of School Trustees during their Feb. 12 meeting, lauded Ray’s dedication and contributions to the school community.

Ray’s appointment follows her tenure as interim principal at Webb Elementary during the current school year. Before assuming this role, she served as the instructional coach at Custer Baker Intermediate School and taught at Webb Elementary as well. Her experience also includes teaching high school English and developmental reading before joining Franklin’s educational staff.

Ray said she is, “excited and honored to be chosen to lead a school with such hardworking students, and extremely dedicated staff and a supported family community.”

She said she commited to building upon the school’s existing culture and traditions and her role as both a staff member and parent within the Webb school community.

Ray’s official announcement as principal was met with resounding applause during the school board meeting, reflecting the support for her leadership from Webb Elementary staff members.

Superintendent David Clendening said he is glad to welcome her as principal.

“We are really excited about the journey she is on,” he said.

Ray thanked the board for trusting her with the leadership role.

“Webb Elementary is obviously a great building filled with tradition and staff that are truly family, as you can see tonight,” she said during the meeting. “I am honored to take on this role, so thank you for trusting me in this leadership position.”
