UIndy, Ivy Tech forge partnership for guaranteed admission, scholarship

The University of Indianapolis announced the creation of a guaranteed admissions agreement with Ivy Tech Community College.

UIndy officials say the partnership makes a bachelor’s degree more accessible and helps lower barriers to private school education. The Guaranteed Admissions Agreement creates the Ivy Tech Distinguished Transfer Program, which provides a scholarship worth at least $16,000 and guaranteed admission for qualified transfer students.

Students who meet these requirements would be eligible for the program: graduate with an associate’s degree in an approved 2+2 transfer pathway or ‘Transfer-as-a-Junior’ pathway, have a GPA of at least 3.0, and are enrolled as a full-time student at UIndy, according to a statement on the partnership from UIndy.

The agreement also assures Ivy Tech students that earned credits and specific associate’s degrees will directly count toward their required coursework for a bachelor’s degree from the University of Indianapolis. There are 2+2 programs offered for more than a dozen programs including business, criminal justice, liberal arts and psychology, according to UIndy.

Students who do not meet the GPA requirements of the Ivy Tech Distinguished Transfer Program are still eligible for admission and certain merit scholarships through the standard transfer process, according to UIndy.

The transfer pathway and Guaranteed Admissions Agreement applies to both current and future Ivy Tech students.
