Greenwood Fire to host fire extinguisher training

If a fire broke out would you know how to put it out with a fire extinguisher?

Greenwood residents have a chance to learn how in an event the fire department is holding next month.

The Greenwood Fire Department is hosting the first of four planned Fire Extinguisher Training events from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 14 at the Greenwood Community Center, 100 Surina Way. This in-person event is a chance to learn essential fire safety skills and gain confidence in handling fire extinguishers, according to the Greenwood Fire Department.

Firefighters will guide participants through hands-on exercises, including proper use techniques and what to do with a fire extinguisher after using it. Limited spots are available, so those interested should sign up at shorturl.at/tDEP0.

Training will be held in the medium conference room in the Greenwood Community Center. This is located on the second floor near the elevator, fire officials said.

Additional fire extinguisher training opportunities will be held June 27, Sept. 26 and Dec. 19.
