Johnson County Recycling District and Shares, Inc. will host document shredding and household chemical disposal events from 9 a.m. to noon on April 20, Aug. 17 and Nov. 2 at 900 Arvin Road, Franklin.
The shredding events are free and open to Johnson County residents and businesses. Documents will be collected in locked containers and shredded off-site at Shares, Inc. in Shelbyville. Electronics and general recycling will not be accepted during the event. These items can be brought to the Franklin Recycling Center during regular hours of operation. The Johnson County Tox Box will be open during the events for residential use, 9 a.m. to noon by appointment only. Visit JCRD.org to set up an appointment time. The Tox Box is located at 1051 Hospital Road, Franklin.
The following items are free of charge to take to the Tox Box: household cleaning supplies, yard and pool chemicals, automotive fluids, poisons, aerosol cans, adhesives, oil-based paint and stains. No latex paint, batteries, or light bulbs will be accepted.
The Tox Box is open for Johnson County residents only. No businesses, contractors or small quantity generators will be accepted.
