As work continues in the I-69 Finish Line project zone on the southside there are several things to watch out for in Marion and Johnson counties this week.
On the southside of Indianapolis, there will be I-465 lane and ramp closures this week. Nightly double-lane closures and intermittent 20-minute stoppages are expected at various locations on I-465 eastbound and westbound between I-65 and I-70 the evenings of Tuesday through Thursday. Closures and stoppages are expected between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for pavement upgrades, according to Indiana Department of Transportation.
On Friday from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. motorists should expect a double-lane closure on eastbound I-465 between Kentucky Avenue/State Road 67 and Harding Street to allow construction crews to move the barrier wall and shift all three eastbound lanes onto new pavement.
Motorists should expect a double right-lane closure on westbound I-465 between I-65 and Kentucky Avenue/State Road 67 from 7 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. Lane closures are needed for work on overhead signs, paving, and bridge demolition. Delays are expected on westbound I-465 throughout the weekend, INDOT officials say.
On-ramps to westbound I-465 are also expected to close as part of this work from Friday to Monday:
- Northbound U.S. 31/East Street to westbound I-465
- Harding Street to westbound I-465
The southbound U.S. 31/East Street ramp to I-465 westbound will remain closed into summer, INDOT officials say.
In Morgan and Johnson counties, motorists should expect daytime intermittent closures throughout the week.
On northbound and southbound I-69 in Morgan County, there will be intermittent shoulder closures for the completion of remaining construction activities.
Potential daytime single-lane closures for concrete staining work are possible in two areas of Johnson County:
- Eastbound and westbound Smith Valley Road between State Road 37 and Mullinix Road
- Eastbound and westbound State Road 144 between Old State Road 37 and Eastern Service Road
If the single-lane closures occur they would take place between Tuesday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., according to INDOT.
During the next few weeks, there will also be temporary daytime single-lane closures on northbound and southbound State Road 37 between Banta Road and Fairview Road for pavement striping, INDOT officials say.
