Emily Martin crowned Johnson County Fair Queen

Standing on the stage donning their best evening gowns, 12 young women competed for the title of Johnson County Fair Queen. For Emily Martin, Sunday night proved life-changing as she was named 2024’s fair queen.

Martin, 18, is the daughter of Dustin and Amanda Martin, and a graduate of Franklin Community High School. She plans to attend Ball State University to study Criminology. She is also the first intern to serve the Johnson County Coroner’s Office.

She’s incredibly excited to have won the title of Johnson County Fair Queen, but she thinks all of the girls deserve recognition.

“I’m so honored to be able to represent Johnson County,” Martin said.

The title signifies that Martin is dedicated and responsible, she said, and she is glad to represent Johnson County for the little girls who grow up watching queens get crowned each year.

Joining Martin this year on the queen’s court is Elise Armstrong, 1st runner up; Emma Gunn, 2nd runner up; Layna Tzaferis, 3rd runner up; Abigaile Wolfe, 4th runner up; and Chloe Grubb, Miss Congeniality.

Throughout the rest of fair week, Martin and the court will preside over fair events.
