Hospitals honored for heart patient outcomes

The American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines initiative promotes up-to-date, research-based guidelines to ensure all patients have access to lifesaving care.

Hospitals in Indiana are among the more than 3,000 nationwide that participate in the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines and other programs to improve outcomes for Americans who experience heart disease or stroke. Each year, the American Heart Association recognizes hospitals across the country for consistently following up-to-date, research-based guidelines to ensure all patients have access to lifesaving care.

Area awardees are: Community Heart and Vascular; Community Hospital East; Franciscan Health and Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital.

Southside hotel earns award

The Residence Inn Indianapolis South/Greenwood was awarded the Marriott 2023 Diamond Circle Award.

Considered the most prestigious honor among Marriott International hotels, the annual Diamond Circle Award recognize hotels and individuals for notable achievements among several key customer criteria, including intent to recommend, having the highest guest service scores, passing inspections scores and increase in revenue year over year. Residence Inn Indianapolis South/Greenwood was the top performer selected for this prestigious award out of 874 locations worldwide.

The Franklin Chamber Foundation is accepting applications for its small business capacity building grant program. Twelve Franklin based businesses will be awarded $2,500 for eligible projects judged by the Franklin Chamber Foundation, members of the Franklin Economic Development Commission and Discover Downtown Franklin. Funds are available through economic development fees from the Franklin Economic Development Commission.

New doctors join Franciscan

Dr. Patrick Heckman has joined Franciscan Physician Network Oncology and Hematology Specialists in Indianapolis.

Heckman is a graduate of Hanover College and received his medical degree from the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indianapolis. He also completed his residency training in internal medicine at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Markey Cancer Center at the University of Kentucky.

Franciscan Physician Network Oncology and Hematology Specialists is located at 8111 S. Emerson Ave., in the Cancer Center, Ste 101. Heckman will provide care at the Indianapolis office and at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

Dr. Beth Yegerlehner is now seeing patients at Franciscan Physician Network Center Grove Internal Medicine in Greenwood.

Board-certified in family medicine, Dr. Yegerlehner received an undergraduate degree from Purdue University and earned her medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed residency training in family medicine at Franciscan Health in Beech Grove.

Center Grove Internal Medicine provides primary care, consultative internal medicine and care for patients ages 18 and older and is located at 1703 W. Stones Crossing Road, Ste. 200.
