Local senior living company wins competition

The Indiana Healthcare Association (IHCA) recently hosted their inaugural Culinary Caregiver Competition to showcase and reward chefs in Indiana-based senior living communities. Senior living community culinary teams are charged with serving up to hundreds of meals per day while maintaining high nutritional standards in good-tasting meals. IHCA wanted to showcase and acknowledge the level of culinary talent required within the senior healthcare sector.

Chefs from senior living companies throughout the state competed as each chef prepared an appetizer, entree, and dessert, all while incorporating “secret” required ingredients into their recipes for the appetizer and entree. The final dishes were evaluated by a panel of judges and the audience sampled and judged the desserts.

The final winner in all categories was Chef Mike Minch, Executive Chef at Rosegate Commons, on the south side of Indianapolis. Chef Mike was chosen to represent the culinary division, along with Sous Chef Ethan Wise, a culinary student at Ivy Tech.
