Here’s what’s going on with I-69 the week of August 19

Part of of the Harding Street interchange at Interstate 465 is closed as work continues to finish the I-69 Finish Line project.

The entry and exit ramps on the east side of Harding Street at I-465 are closed for up to 60 days, until mid-October, for reconstruction work. The I-465 westbound exit ramp to Harding Street and the Harding Street entrance ramp to I-465 eastbound are also closed, according to an Indiana Department of Transportation update.

Detour routes for the closures follow State Road 37 and Interstate 69. A more detailed map can be found at i69finishline.com/i69interchangeopening.

Elsewhere on Interstate 465, the eastbound and westbound lanes between Interstates 65 and 70 may be reduced to one lane with 20-minute stops nightly through Friday, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., for bridge beam delivery and placement. This single-lane condition is expected to cause delays, so INDOT officials ask drivers to use an alternate route if possible.

Two other ramp closures are also continuing.

The westbound I-465 exit ramp at Mann Road (Exit 7) was closed on July 26 for up to 60 days, or up to Sept. 24, for pavement reconstruction. Motorists needing to access Mann Road from westbound I-465 should exit at Kentucky Avenue/State Road 67 (Exit 8).

The southbound U.S. 31/East Street entrance ramp to westbound I-465 will remain closed into late 2024, according to INDOT.

Officials are also reminding drivers that the new I-69/I-465 interchange, located west of Harding Street, is now open to traffic. Engineers are also evaluating the signal timing at Epler Avenue and Harding Street and working to adjust the signals to improve traffic flow, according to INDOT.

As for I-69, officials are reminding drivers about speed limits. The northbound speed limit from Henderson Ford Road to Waverly Road is now 70 mph in Morgan County.

In Johnson and Marion counties, speed limits are still reduced throughout most of the I-69 Finish Line corridor. Drivers are asked follow all posted speed limits as construction work continues through the remainder of 2024, according to INDOT.

All construction work is weather-dependent.
