Lloyd Clarence Smith

FRANKLIN

Lloyd Clarence Smith of Franklin, Indiana went to his heavenly home with his loving family around him on August 16, 2024.

Lloyd was the son of Clarence E & Gusta J Smith of Russell Springs, Kentucky. He was one of nine children. He grew up on a farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and brother in laws, Margaret & Alvin Stanton, Jean & Jr. Sinclair, Helen & Clifton Harmon, and brother & sister in law Leonard & Dessie Smith, and brother in law Jimmy Wells.

Other survivors are Gordon (Nancy) Smith of Franklin, IN, Nelda (Leroyse) Melson, Wanda (Ritchie) Curtis, and Patty Wells.

Lloyd married Joyce R (Higginbotham) Smith, November 14, 1959 and she survives, They have spent 65 years together. They have three children Beverly (Dale) Burton, Dallas (Anita) Smith and was preceded in death by his son Michael W Smith.

He was blessed with 8 grandchildren, Nathan Smith, Jeremy Burton, Joe Smith, Brandon Smith, Britney Schaffer, Nikya Dorton, Tyler Smith, and Heather Green. He was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, Cashious Smith, Elliot Smith, Lennox Smith, Cameron Smith, Cyrus Smith, Kendrick Smith, Jadyn Burton, Kylie Burton, Elizabeth Burton, Laycen Schaffer, Bella Schaffer, Adaline Dorton, and Eleanor Smith.

He was a kind and loving person, who loved to joke around. His nieces nephews and grandchildren remember that he always had a kitten in his pocket. Actually, he made a kitten sound pretending a kitten was in his pocket. He loved spending time with his family, watching ducks in his yard and gardening., He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lloyd spent over thirty years working construction as an equipment operator belonging to the Local 181 Union. His career started at LaBrec Contracting, Edinburgh, IN. Annually he was responsible for putting up the large Christmas Tree at City Hall in Columbus, Indiana.

He gave his life to the Lord at an early age. He was a faithful servant and attended Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh, Indiana.

Services will be held at Who So Ever Will Community Church, 623 Eisenhower Dr., Edinburgh, IN. Showing is Friday, August 23rd from 4-8 pm and from 10:00 AM until time of service on Saturday, Funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Randy Denton on Saturday, August 24th at 11 am. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
