Franklin Kroger marks completion of $2.8M renovation

Franklin officials, Kroger staffers and community members gathered Thursday morning to mark the completion of a $2.8 million renovation project.

For several months, the store has been undergoing changes and additions, many of which occurred in the overnight house. Among the changes was the installation of popcorn-making equipment, allowing the store to sell freshly-made popcorn of various flavors, and a new olive and antipasti bar, where customers can pick their olives and antipasti to take home.

Two associates were honored during a ceremony. Longtime associate Susan Newton was honored for her years of service and cashier Marty Bradley was honored for helping a customer pay for their groceries when they didn’t have enough funds.

Johnson County Senior Services was also presented with a $1,000 check to aid their work in the community.

Kroger has been in Franklin for more than 80 years, Mayor Steve Barnett said.
