Here’s what’s going on with I-69 the week of Aug. 26

The I-69 and I-465 interchange is open, but the area near I-465 will remain an active construction zone through late 2024 as work continues to move I-465 into its permanent alignment.

Here’s what the Indiana Department of Transportation says area motorists can expect this week in the construction zone:

  • Westbound and eastbound I-465 near the White River Bridge will be reduced to one lane with 20-minute stops nightly from Monday through Friday, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for material deliveries and overhead sign structure placement. This single-lane condition is expected to cause delays. Drivers should use an alternate route if possible.
  • Westbound and eastbound I-465 between US 31/East Street and I-65 will be reduced to one lane with 20-minute stops nightly from Monday through Friday, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. to provide safe access for crews to and from the construction site.

INDOT this week issued a few reminders on ongoing construction work:

  • Entrance and exit ramps on the east side of Harding Street at I-465 are now closed. These closures are expected through mid-October for ramp reconstruction.
  • The westbound I-465 exit ramp to Mann Road (Exit 7) will remain closed until early October for pavement reconstruction. Motorists needing to access Mann Road from westbound I-465 should exit at Kentucky Avenue/SR 67 (Exit 8).
  • The southbound US 31/East Street entrance ramp to westbound I-465 will remain closed into late 2024.
  • I-69 northbound and southbound between Fairview Road and I-465 are still within the I-69 Finish Line construction zone. Drivers should follow posted speed limits, be alert, and drive safely as construction continues through later this year, INDOT officials say.

All construction work is weather-dependent.
